JExplorer 3.4: While You Consider Switching to Chromium

JExplorer 3.4 is now available for download.

In this minor update we have added support of Windows Server 2003 platform and pop up management functionality, and fixed several issues reported by our customers. The full list of changes in this version is available in the Release Notes.

We would also like to remind you, that since January 12, 2016 Microsoft does not support any versions of the JExplorer’s underlying technology — Internet Explorer, except the last one.

JExplorer 3.3.2 is Released.

JExplorer's history is getting a new spin! The Beta build of a new major version 3 is available for download. New API, better performance, stability and memory usage, full compatibility with the latest Microsoft Internet Explorer versions and more.

IE11 Issues Impacting JExplorer Customers

MS IE 11 support had been added in JExplorer 2.7 right after MS IE 11 release (April–May 2014). Several months later a few of our customers informed us that they have issues such as native crashes, freezing and fail fast exceptions in Java and JExplorer32 processes with MS IE 11.

We figured out that these issues are reproducible only with the latest MS IE 11 updates starting from 11.0.10. We analysed crash dump files and function call stacks and figured out that problems were caused by regression issues in MS IE 11 updates. Microsoft confirmed that their latest updates are causing similar issues and they started working on fixing these problems. Microsoft engineers do not give exact estimates on the expected fix time, but we anticipate that it may take months before a new update of IE 11 goes public.

While working with Microsoft on the issues, we figured out that latter can be avoided by re-designing and re-implementing the way JExplorer integrates with IE. We created a prototype with the new design and got a confirmation that all issues introduced in the latest MS IE 11 updates can be worked around on our end.

So, right now we are working on the next JExplorer version that would be compatible with the latest MS IE 11 updates. It will be a major rework with a much more reliable implementation of our library, which will include several necessary changes in the public API. We will do our best to make the new API compatible with JExplorer 2.7 version as much as possible, but we cannot make it 100% compatible.

The version which addresses IE11 issues will be a major version update, 3.0. We are planning to release public 3.0 Beta, which would cover most used features in the middle of November. The complete version release is planned to mid-December.

While we are working on the new version of JExplorer, to avoid the issues with the latest MS IE 11 updates, we recommend that end users downgrade their MS IE 11 version to 11.0.9.

JExplorer 2.7 Released

JExplorer has been updated to version 2.7.

New Features and Improvements:

• Added Windows 8 and MS IE 10 support;
• Added JDK 1.7 support;
• Improved clear cache functionality;
• Improved memory usage;DOM API extended with additional methods for working with IFrames.

JExplorer 2.3 Released

JExplorer, a library that provides a convenient Java API for integrating Microsoft Internet Explorer into Java applications, has been updated to version 2.3.

This release introduces the following features and improvements:
interface for receiving notifications when popup menu is required;
event handler for receiving information about popup window before it is opened;
listener for receiving events when WebBrowser is disposed.

JExplorer 2.0 Commercially Available

After a small EAP period, TeamDev is happy to announce the commercial release of JExplorer 2.0. JExplorer is our library that provides a convenient Java API for integrating Microsoft Internet Explorer into Java applications.

The most of changes in JExplorer 2.0 were directed to improve its stability and to add Java Applets support. The changes in the core of JExplorer allowed us to isolate all potentially unsafe native code from the main Java application via moving each WebBrowser instance to a separate native process. With this major release we also introduce new features, such as Java Applets support, improved memory management, individual proxy settings for each WebBrowser instance. JExplorer 1.9.1 Released

While we all are waiting for major release of JExplorer, TeamDev does not forget about existing customers and today is announcing the release of version 1.9.1. This maintenance release introduces features and improvements requested by JExplorer customers as well as resolves several issues reported to our support center. In particular, the new version features:

• Added a new listener for windows resize related events.
• Added ability to get all input parameters for popup windows.
• Improved ContextMenuProvider class to allow receiving the original HTML element on right click action.
• Improved the Cookie class to be serializable.
• Updated the Programmer's Guide documentation and added new samples.

JExplorer 1.9, last before major release

JExplorer 1.0 was released back in early November 2004 and it has changed a lot over 3 years. And although we haven't reached the major version 2.0 so far, we are not after higher version numbers. Our goal is to give JExplorer users stability and good features instead. This release is a case in point.

Today we believe JExplorer is a complete software development tool providing a wide set of useful features to its users. This release introduces new ways to efficiently control and manage the Internet Explorer browser component. Flexible proxy configuration and browser cache management are among the recent changes.

New functions were added to the demo application and the documentation was updated appropriately.

With version 1.9 rolled out, it's clear that the next step will be an even version number. The release of JExplorer 2.0 is scheduled for the first quarter of the next year. So stay connected.
